Volunteering Makes Us Happy, Reduces Stress.

We’ve all experienced this at one time or another where, after taking time out of our busy schedules to help out, we feel uplifted.

Jesus knew this when he taught us to “Love God, and love our neighbour as ourself.

Research has confirmed that there are many benefits to volunteering, both personal – happiness, fulfillment, less stress – and to society.

Council 9652 offers many opportunities for you, and your family members, to volunteer.  One of the many benefits is the sense of community: making the world, or your piece of it, better.

Here are some events that are planned for this fraternal year, which require just 2-10 hours of time over the preceding month:

o Fish Fry                       – Sep 2015
o Spaghetti Supper      – Nov 2015
o Ladies Appreciation – Feb 2016
o Steak Barbecue         – May 2016
o Golf Tournament      – Jun 2016

Please consider helping with just one of these, maybe with your family, then send me a quick note to let me know.

God bless.

Scott Arnold, Grand Knight

First Degree, Sun 22nd June

Brother Knights, I ask that each of you consider coming out to our First Degree this coming Sunday, June 22 at St. Paul the Apostle Parish Hall with a 2pm start (sharp).

As my second term as your Grand Knight begins, I have laid out a Vision platform which I intend to share with our membership on our July 8th General Meeting. As a part of that Vision, I am encouraging each of us to remind ourselves why we joined the Knights of Columbus. A good start would be to witness the first degree this Sunday. Often we all need refreshers to motivate and encourage new ideas and energy.

If you can take 2 hours out of your busy schedules this Sunday afternoon to witness and support our new Candidates, I assure you it will be time worthwhile. For you, our Council and most importantly your family.

I thank each of you for your support and look forward to an awesome and exciting year.

Vivat Jesus,

Scott Arnold

CCO Summit on October 4th

A Catholic Christian Outreach (CCO) Summit is being held this Friday at
St. James Chapel at 7:00 pm. The night will consist of Eucharistic adoration, accompanied by songs of praise, and preceded by a talk about St. Francis given by Fr. de Souza.

The Knights of your Council and members of your parish are certainly welcome and even encouraged to attend. It would be a great way for your friends to become acquainted with the work and the students of the chaplaincy at Queen’s! I think that you will also find it very encouraging that many young people ardently desire to spend time in prayer and in the Lord’s presence.

We will also have a Mass at 5:00 pm in St. James Chapel to celebrate the Feast of St. Francis.

I wish to remind everyone of the presentation from Father Ray this past Month with his wish to invite the Knights out to events like this. This is a great opportunity for evangelization integrating young adults with an older generation as well. Hope to see you there!

Vivat Jesus
