Remembering Brother Jim Lawrence

Peacefully in Ottawa on Monday November 1, 2021 in his 91st year

Jim Lawrence beloved husband and best friend of the late Mary Wowk. Loving father to Debra (Johnny), Denise (Tim), David (Katherine), and Joseph (Anne). Grandfather to Kyle (Natasha), Ashley (Barrie), Lauren (Desi), Timothy (Trish), Katie (Dave), Christopher, Justin, Michael (Amei), and Kiera .

Great grandfather to Finn, Charlie and Winnie (Kyle and Natasha), Indie, Leo (Katie and Dave), Olivia, Tiana (Barrie and Ashley), Scotlyn (Lauren and Desi).

Predeceased by his parents Roland and Helena (Rose), 3 younger brothers: Bob (Shirley deceased), Jack and Frank, Brother in law of Harriet and Nancy Lawrence, Raymond Wowk and his wife Janet, Nestor (deceased) and Cressa (deceased). Jim is fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the Tompkins Funeral Home Township Chapel 435 Davis Dr. Kingston on Saturday November 27th from 12 noon until Liturgy of the Word in the chapel at 1:00 pm. Inurnment will be held in Cataraqui cemetery where Jim and his beloved wife Mary will be placed to rest together.

As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to the Ruddy Shenkman Hospice Centre, 110 McCurdy Dr., Kanata, On K2L 2Z6 or to U.H.K.F. (Cancer Centre) would be appreciated by the family.

Jim was a life long member of the Kiwanis Club and a Grand Knight of The Knights of Columbus.  He was a well respected and accomplished executive at BP Canada/ Petro Canada in the Oil and Gas industry.  He finished his career with the Business Development Bank in Kingston as a business Councillor.

Special mention goes to his “Oily Birds” BP fishing buddies club, where he was fisherman, chief cook and bottle washer at the Hay Bay cabin. He had a wicked sense of humor.
